Jul 12, 2016 BMI affiliates are invited to take advantage of one free song submission after their first paid submission to the 15th annual Independent Music Awards (IMAs), taking place November 12, 2016, at New York City’s Lincoln Center. Enter in any album, EP, song, video or design category here by 11:59pm ET, Friday, August 12, and you’ll receive a free song submission coupon with your receipt, which is good for use throughout the rest of the submission period. BMI members who release their music independently, or who are signed to independent labels, can submit their recordings and design projects in more than 80 categories. Nominees are heard by a blue-ribbon panel of judges that have in the past included Keith Richards, Norah Jones, Tom Waits, Peter Gabriel, Ziggy Marley, Band of Skulls, Snoop Dogg, Tori Amos, Ozzy Osbourne, Aimee Mann, DJ Spooky and Keith Urban. Past winners and nominees have included Jackson Browne, fun., Killer Mike, Passenger and Flying Lotus. Previous BMI member winners and nominees, who have all performed at IMA Showcases, include Five Finger Death Punch, Valerie June, Melissa Auf der Maur, Elizabeth Mitchell and State Radio, as well as Girl In A Coma and Bent Knee.
